The Four Enemies of Humanity

Four human weaknesses—lack of understanding, egoism, indifference, and lack of imagination—are said to be obstacles to humanitarian work, and these are referred to as "the four enemies of humanity."

• Lack of understanding

  Judging things on the surface and not questioning whether they are rumour or fact

• Egoism

  Being unable to see anything but yourself and having a narrow mental field of vision

• Indifference

  Being unaware of changes in your surroundings

• Lack of imagination

  Being unable to put yourself in the shoes of another person's suffering
