To save lives in conflict

2. Providing Medical Relief

This activity delivers essential medical care to civilians injured in conflict zones.

A wide range of medical initiatives is required, from treating bomb-related injuries through surgery to preventing infectious diseases caused by poor hygiene. Specifically, this includes emergency care such as stopping bleeding and performing CPR, as well as surgical operations, chronic disease management, vaccinations, and mental health support. To deliver these services, field hospitals are established, and mobile clinics may travel through affected areas. Additionally, special consideration is given to pregnant women, children, and the elderly.

The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement carries out medical relief activities in conflict zones worldwide in collaboration with various aid organizations, and the needs for these humanitarian efforts continues to grow. In recent years, armed conflicts have increasingly taken place in urban areas, leading to a higher number of civilian casualties. Medical staffs, often working near the front lines, also face significant risks, making their safety a major concern. Additionally, modern conflicts tend to be prolonged, exacerbating the shortage of medical resources. For this reason, there is a growing need to support medical care in diverse ways. This includes assessing local needs, providing health education, offering hygiene management guidance, and advocating for the protection of medical personnel. At the same time, the involvement of non-medical personnel, including Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers, remains essential.
