First aid involves providing proper lifesaving and emergency care to those who are injured or suddenly fall ill until they can receive medical attention from a doctor or emergency services. In countries with limited medical infrastructure, it is crucial for residents to learn first aid to protect their own lives. Specifically, this includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), appropriate use of AEDs, and techniques for controlling bleeding and applying bandages.

Dissemination of first aid is about protecting lives and health. When individuals learn first aid, their knowledge extends to those around them, increasing the chances of saving more lives. For this reason, educating children and younger generations is especially important. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement actively promotes first aid training in schools and local communities.

In the case of the Japanese Red Cross Society, we dispatch staff and volunteers who are qualified as first aid instructors to countries in Asia, Oceania, and beyond, working to provide training and develop future instructors.
