18. Supporting the Education of Children

Ukrainian Children in Child Friendly Space

It is an activity that establishes environments where children can receive education during conflicts and disasters, and supports the learning process itself.

More specifically, it includes repairing damaged schools, setting up temporary learning spaces, distributing educational materials such as textbooks and stationery, and supporting both learning and play. For children, education is not only about acquiring knowledge—it also plays a vital role in restoring a sense of normalcy and is essential for the healthy development of both mind and body. From this perspective, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has established Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) where children can safely spend time, reduce psychological stress, and engage in play and learning. Many Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers actively provide psychosocial support and help in operating these spaces.
