21. Supporting the Welfare of Children

This activity supports children in need of care at infant homes, daycare centers, and children’s homes.

The Japanese Red Cross Society’s infant homes provide care for children who, for various reasons, cannot live with their families. These homes offer the necessary childcare and nursing support to ensure each child’s healthy growth and development. To provide children with more opportunities to experience a family-like environment, the Red Cross actively promotes foster parenting and encourages foster families to welcome children into their homes for temporary or long-term care, offering them warmth, love, and understanding, while also providing support to foster parents in this role.

Volunteers play an active role in supporting these efforts. With care and affection for the children, they assist in various tasks, including sorting and washing clothes, sewing, helping with meals and outings, providing haircuts, and organizing events.
