To support medical and welfare services

22. Supporting the Welfare of the Elderly

This activity aims to help create communities where the elderly can live with peace of mind.

The Japanese Red Cross Society provides integrated medical and nursing care services for elderly individuals in need, including at special nursing homes and day service centers, tailoring the support to the needs of each person. Additionally, we are working to build a system where local residents can help look after the elderly by organizing healthy lifestyle support seminars and dementia supporter training courses at community facilities and schools.

At elderly welfare facilities, volunteers take the lead in organizing events and engaging with facility users. They also help improve the living environment by tidying clothes, changing sheets, and assisting with other daily needs, contributing to a better quality of life for the elderly. Furthermore, volunteer activities in partnership with local companies and organizations include a variety of programs, such as makeup sessions, magic shows, and flower planting activities with children.

Through these efforts, we strive to encourage social participation among the elderly, strengthen their connections with the local community, and address issues such as social isolation. By doing so, we contribute to the creation of a community where residents can live with peace of mind.
