23. Supporting the Welfare of People with Disabilities

This activity provides personalized support to people with disabilities, helping them lead independent lives and participate in society. It takes place at rehabilitation facilities for people with physical disabilities, prosthetics manufacturing facilities, and information service facilities for people with visual or hearing disabilities.

Volunteers play an active role at the Japanese Red Cross Society's information service facilities for people with visual or hearing disabilities. To help reduce daily challenges and bridge the information gap for those with visual impairments, the Japanese Red Cross produces and lends out Braille books and audiobooks, ensuring access to essential information for a better quality of life. Additionally, we proactively offer training courses for volunteers to transcribe text into Braille and create audio recordings, further supporting these activities.

In addition, by organizing disability awareness courses and community exchange events, we promote the social participation of people with disabilities and strengthen their connections with the local community. Through these efforts, we aim to create a society where people with and without disabilities support and care for one another.
